THE Wheeler Memorial Fountain

Truly A Part of BRIDGEPORTS' HISTORY

Another piece of our cities'history is indeed -.The THE WHEELER MEMORIAL FOUNTAIN.The statue has been restored and stands as a symbol of our cities'past.The statue is dedicated to the sewing machine manufacturer NATHANIEL WHEELER and placed here in 1912.The fountain stands at PARK AVE.,FAIRFIELD AVE. and JOHN ST.The statue honors MR.WHEELER a descendent from MOSES WHEELER who which a bridge here carries his name..Nathaniel Wheeler like others such as ELIAS HOWE and SINGER manufactured sewing machines here in 1856 the company became world famous back in the day.Bridgeport has a great history and many historical buildings for all to enjoy.
