The incident occurred Tuesday evening, and Bridgeport police said the woman knew the shooter.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 28-year-old Bridgeport woman was listed in stable condition at an area hospital Wednesday, after she was shot in the leg during a domestic violence incident on Shelton Street in Bridgeport Tuesday night, according to police.
The incident began at about 5:25 p.m., when police received a report of a woman shot.
"The woman [was] described as having a small child with her at the time of the assault," said Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "The woman and her child were then forced into a gold-colored Acura that fled the scene prior to police arrival."

Officers found the woman, who was with a 1-month-old child, on Huntington Road, but the woman initially was uncooperative with first responders, "and stated she was unharmed." The child was found to be in "good health," according to Gilleran.
The victim was then taken to the hospital by family members, and is being treated for the injury, which is not considered to be a threat to her life. Police have not found the suspect.
