Yankee Legend Bernie Williams Visits Bridgeport Schools

The famous Yankee and Latin Grammy-nominated recording artist got to play and chat with students Wednesday.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Students at Bridgeport schools got to meet a legendary Yankee when they were visited by World Series Champion Bernie Williams as part of Arts Count Day Wednesday.

Williams, a musician and guitar player himself, joined turnaround artists and art teachers from around the area to share and engage with Bridgeport fifth grade students. Williams and the other artists performed for the students and got to engage with them for a while.

The goal of the day was to draw attention to the arts role in students everyday life. The district says improving arts education not only helps individual students, but the unification of communities as well.
