BROOKFIELD, CT — Two motorists were hospitalized following a two-car crash in Brookfield on Thursday afternoon.

First responders from Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company Fire and EMS to the area of 130 Candlewood Lake Road at 3:10 p.m. found both drivers injured and one trapped inside a Honda CRV.

Crews using the "Jaws of Life" were able to stabilize the Honda, remove the driver's side door, and lift the dashboard of the driver.

Both injured drivers were taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment.

Candlewood Lake Road was closed from Huckleberry Hill Road to Rocky Road due until about 4:10 p.m.
