4 Hospitalized With CO Poisoning Due to Generator: PD

They were running a generator in their garage.

BROOKFIELD, CT -- Police are reporting that four people were rushed to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning after running a generator in their garage last night.

All four persons in the home were transported by ambulance to Danbury Hospital for treatment and one of those has had to be transferred for more advanced care to an out of state hospital, police said.

Police are cautioning residents to never run generators indoors and to keep them well away from any windows and doors. Chainsaw accidents are also on the rise in town, and police are cautioning residents to avoid any downed wires.

The Brookfield High School shelter continues to be open and is accepting pets, for those needing it.
Water containers can be filled at the Police Station on Silvermine Road, at the Pocono Road Firehouse and at the Candlewood Company Firehouse on Bayview Drive in the Candlewood Shores.

Electronic device recharging can be done at the high school shelter and in the police department lobby. Schools in Brookfield are closed again on Friday.

Eversource is reporting that they hope to have substantial restoration of service to much of Brookfield by Sunday Afternoon, although some side roads and roads with significant damage may take longer to restore.
