BRIDGEWATER – One of the few five-kilometer foot races in Connecticut that is run all along trails will have a third rendition this summer.
The Tappen Brook 5K (3.1 miles) is scheduled for Sunday, August 9, 9 a.m., along forested, rolling trails in scenic Bridgewater. It will start and finish at the Bridgewater Town Park, near 221 Tappen Road.
The race is sponsored by the Bridgewater Land Trust and the Bridgewater Recreation Commission.
Pre-registration is available through Ultra Signup. The cost is $30 for adults, with a $3.50 additional handling fee, and $20 for runners from 13-21 years of age, with a $3.50 additional handling fee. Runners 12 years of age and under can compete for free.
Entrants also can register at the town park on August 9 from 8 to 8:50 a.m.
All runners will receive a choice of swag, including caps and neck gators. The top finishers will each receive a special prize.
Thomas Parrett took first place in 2025 with a time of 19-minutes, 1-second.
