BROOKFIELD, CT — Police are investigating an apparent swatting incident that prompted an emergency response at Whisconier Middle School on Wednesday morning.
According to Police Chief John Puglisi, officers were dispatched to the school around 9:40 a.m. after receiving a report that required an immediate response. Police treated the situation as a potential emergency while working to assess the validity of the information.
Following an investigation and a complete sweep of the school, authorities determined the report was not credible and that there was no threat to students, staff or the community.
Police said swatting incidents — false reports intended to generate a large law enforcement response — have occurred in communities across the country.
The source of the call remains under investigation in coordination with state and federal partners, according to police.
