• Man gets probation in Danbury woman's 2024 death on Candlewood Lake (ctpost.com) — A recent court decision has closed a tragic case tied to the Danbury–Brookfield border on Candlewood Lake, where a young woman died after an accident near Beachwood Grove in Brookfield in 2024. The boat's operator received a suspended jail sentence and probation after investigators concluded he failed to enforce safety rules and left an intoxicated group with the engine running. Detailed warrant findings describe how underage drinking, poor supervision, and a running propeller contributed to the fatal injuries.
• 2 people arrested after drug sale in Danbury, police say (newstimes.com) — A Brookfield man and a Danbury woman were arrested after detectives say they witnessed an illegal drug sale on South Street in Danbury following a monthlong investigation. Police report finding crack cocaine on the Brookfield suspect and more drugs, paraphernalia, and a firearm at the Danbury woman's home. Both now face multiple narcotics charges and upcoming court appearances.
