• Southbury Man Gets Probation In Brookfield Happy Landings Shooting (patch.com) — A Southbury man has received a suspended jail sentence and three years of probation for a 2025 shooting at Happy Landings Farm on Whisconier Road in Brookfield. Police say two people suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds in the parking lot at 55 Whisconier Road, and the case has now concluded with misdemeanor convictions for assault and reckless endangerment.
   

• Brookfield Wendy's Among Locations Operated By Bankrupt Franchisee (patch.com) — Brookfield residents worried about their local Wendy's at 36 Federal Road can breathe easier for now, as its bankrupt franchisee plans to keep restaurants open during a court-supervised restructuring. Meritage Hospitality Group, which runs 29 Wendy's locations in Connecticut, says it expects to maintain operations and continue paying its roughly 9,000 employees' wages and benefits.
