Brookfield Social Services receives Brookfield Lions Donation


Tom Sullivan, President Brookfield Lions, presented a $3000 check to Ellen Melville Director of Brookfield Senior & Social Services to support their various programs. According to Ms. Melville one of the programs, Brookfield Social Services Emergency Fund, provides assistance to local clients in times of need to avert possible crisis situations. Most of the residents that are helped are in unforeseen situation arising from the ever increasing energy costs, unemployment, ill health, or divorce. She stated that many times the little bit of assistance given will be enough to see a family through a transition as they regain their self-sufficiency. Anyone wishing to donate may mail their check (payable to the Brookfield Social Services Emergency Fund) to Brookfield Social Services, PO Box 5106 Brookfield, CT 06804.

The Lions Club is the largest service organization in the world with over 1.3 Million members in 45,000 local clubs.  The Brookfield Lions support a number of local, regional and international causes including Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Brookfield High School Braille Room, Eyeglasses for the Needy, Red Cross Blood Drives, Ability Beyond Disability and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.The Brookfield Lions meet twice monthly on the second and fourth Thursday of the month.
