Art of Shelley Lowell Displayed at Brookfield Town Hall

The Brookfield Arts Commission is pleased to announce that the paintings and poetry of award-winning visual artist and poet, Shelley Lowell, will be exhibited from July 9 through August 29, 2018 in the Brookfield Town Hall. The public is invited to the opening reception on Friday, July 13 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Ms. Lowell will give a special reading of 8-10 poems during the reception. The actual paintings are intended as a collection and are not for sale. Giclee prints will be available for sale upon request.

The exhibition of 38 paintings with their poems will be on the first and second floors of the building. This work is part of an ongoing series that began in 2004. The show is entitled “Art as Messenger” because these paintings and their poems have messages from nature to humanity. It is quite possible that you will never see nature in the same way again after experiencing this work.

Shelley Lowell is a Danbury resident. Her art has been in local juried exhibitions at the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, Danbury City Hall, Greenwich Art Society, Westport Art Center and Sacred Heart University to mention a few. Her work has also been in gallery and museum shows along the East Coast and in California including Atlanta, GA, Alexandria, VA, Baltimore and Columbia, MD, Washington DC, Asheville, NC, San Francisco and New York City.
