Brookfield Creatives Invited to Writers Holiday Soiree

Westport Writers' Workshop invites Brookfield creatives to attend "No Two Snowflakes are Alike," a fun-filled holiday soiree & live reading.

BROOKFIELD, CT-The Westport Writers’ Workshop invites Brookfield area writers and creatives to join them for “No Two Snowflakes are Alike,” a fun-filled evening of creativity and festive cheer, also known as their annual holiday party. The evening will include student and instructor readings. Tickets are $25 per person and all proceeds will go to benefit their outreach program and scholarships.

Newly appointed Executive Director Blake Schnirring said, “We continue to add more events and in-person workshops each session and are continuing to run remote workshops. We are looking forward to 2023, a new year of creativity and inspiration.”

The party will feature special guest Sandra Bendfelt who recently wrote a memoir, “Backing Into My Life”that describes the author's entrance into the New York cabaret scene thirty years ago.
"I had been singing with a Greenwich group of women, The Decibelles for years when a New York City friend recommended her voice. Teacher, Luba Tcheresky, as someone I should meet, I made an appointment and began to work with Luba at her Manhattan studio. One song led to another and I eased my way onto the stages of a number of New York cabarets. That was thirty years ago," said Bendfelt.

"The opportunity to further the pursuit of my creative soul opened up and I'm excited to be connected to the gifted instructors of The Westport Writers' Workshop," she said.
The author will sing two songs at the holiday event from her last show. Students are instructors are encouraged to bring one double-spaced piece of writing to share. Food and drinks will be provided. The event will be held at 25 Sylvan Road South, Suite J, Westport, CT on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 7 to 9 p.m.

About Westport Writers Workshop:

Since 2003, the Westport Writers’ Workshop has been offering workshops for every level of writer, from novice to published! Our instructors offer friendly, supportive writing workshops designed to encourage, inspire, and spark your imagination. With over 100 workshops a year to choose from, we welcome writers of all skill levels and genres. Our workshops are designed to suit your schedule, with options in the morning, afternoons, and evenings. We also host several Saturday-only workshops and one-week writing-intensive programs throughout the year. You can learn more about our workshops by visiting our WORKSHOP page.

Our Philosophy: You can expect a supportive group led by an experienced instructor. You’ll write, read, and learn from each other. Focus is always on the quality of the writing – not on the subject matter. Writing begets writing. The more you commit to your writing, to showing up for your writing group, the more you will write. By joining a community of writers, you will become a stronger writer and influence others to refine their craft. Our philosophy and practices are inspired by Amherst Writers & Artists and Pat Schneider’s book, Writing Alone and With Others.

Our Mission: The Westport Writers’ Workshop is an independent literary arts center offering enriching, supportive creative writing classes, as well as literary readings to the local public. Our organization also provides free writing workshops to underserved populations in their own communities.

Westport Writers’ Workshop is located at 25 Sylvan Road South, Suite J, Westport, CT.
