Blind Paralympic Hopeful speaks at Brookfield Lions Charity Breakfast

Amy Dixon discusses her triumph over her adversity

Amy Dixon is an elite Para- Triathlete competing on the world ITU Paratriathlon Team, training and racing for the Paralympics to be held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. She is ranked 6th in the world and 2nd in the USA for the sport of Triathlon and 2nd in the USA for Paracycling. Ms. Dixon, who lost 97% of her eyesight due to a rare type of Uveitis (an inflammation of the eye disease), spoke to the attendees about empowering yourself to overcome obstacles to achieve a full life. Ms. Dixon, who is a Lion, praised and thanked the Lion organization for their good work and support of visually impaired people like her. At the completion of her talk she received a standing ovation.
