The Brookfield Arts Commission has selected COTYLEDON RISING, a sculpture by artist David Boyajian of New Fairfield, CT, as the centerpiece of the new Pocket Park included in Phase 3 of the Streetscape plan.

COTYLEDON is the first leaf or set of leaves that sprout from a seed. This sculpture is about new beginnings, growth and a bright future.

The 10-foot tall stainless steel sculpture, Cotyledon Rising will depict a welcoming entrance to the new town center and provide elements of nature, warmth and growth. The sculpture embraces the suggestions collected by the Arts Commission by reflecting Brookfield Ironworks and farming history providing a bright, abstract welcoming sculpture. Given the reflective nature of stainless steel, the sculpture will be bright in the daytime sun. With the addition of the accent lights, the sculpture will shine during the evening and continue to welcome.
