The Candlewood Lake Authority Marine Patrol announced that all boaters driving on Candlewood Lake on Sunday, June 28, in the area of Danbury Bay will be disrupted due to the annual Danbury Volunteer Fireman’s Fireworks Display.

Marine Patrol will be stopping all boats entering Danbury Bay for a safety inspection. All boats are required to have all lights in working order and they must have one wearable Personal Floatation Device (Life Jacket) for each person on board. The Candlewood Lake Authority Marine Patrol also reminds boaters who pass within 200 feet of a stationary law enforcement or fire rescue vessel using its lights to slow down to a “slow-no-wake” speed until they are more than 200 feet away from the law enforcement or fire rescue vessel.

Marine Patrol will be setting up a safety zone north of City Island in Danbury Bay. No boats will be allowed to moor or anchor south of the safety zone 5 hours before and during the event. Beginning at 4 p.m., all boats must maintain a “slow-no-wake” speed to allow for the fireworks company to safety set up the fireworks behind the Island. For 2 hours before and during the event no boats will be allowed to travel south of the safety zone into the fireworks display area.
