Brookfield Chimney Fire Extinguished

The weekend fire was noticed by someone passing by a house.

BROOKFIELD, CT — A chimney fire was extinguished by firefighters Saturday in Brookfield.

A passerby noticed a possible fire on Obtuse Road South and firefighters were dispatched at 8:48 p.m., according to the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company.

Engine 1 and 5 from headquarters and Engine 22 from Candlewood responded to the scene.

The fire company reminds residents to clean chimneys at least once a year and more if a fireplace, wood or pellet stove is used frequently.
