Brookfield Crews Kept Busy With Crash, Car Fire

Both the car fire and milti-vehicle accident occurred on Route 7.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Members of Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company and EMS were busy this week with a car fire and a multiple-car accident.

On Tuesday afternoon at about 20 minutes before 5:00 p.m., crews were dispatched to a car fire on Route 7 North just past the Exit 11 on ramp.

First responders found smoke in the passenger compartment of an Audi on the side of the road. Further investigation revealed a small fire in the under carriage of the low profile car.

Firefighters used a stabilization tool and the Jaws of Life e-draulic spreader to lift the car, enabling them to extinguish the fire. Crews spent 40 minutes at the scene.

Shortly after 10:00 the following night, crews were dispatched to a two-car crash on Route 7 North just prior to Exit 12.

First responders found one car down an embankment in the woods and another further up on the exit ramp.

Both drivers refused treatment by EMS according to BVFC, and the firefighters remained on scene to assist in removing the vehicle in the woods, working until 11:25 p.m.
