Brookfield Democrats looking for people to get involved
While we achieved a great deal during the recent election, our work in support of Brookfield continues. With openings on the Brookfield Democratic Town Committee (BDTC) as well as on town boards and commissions, the BDTC wants to hear from Brookfielders who want to work for our town.
As a committee, the BDTC is a group of at least 25 Democrats who are devoted to creating a positive vision for Brookfield’s future that preserves the vibrancy of our town and enhances opportunities for all residents. We do this by:
- Ensuring responsible fiscal management of our town’s resources and future.
- Advocating for a meaningful 21st century education for all students.
- Fostering an environment that allows businesses to thrive.
- Supporting the principles and candidates of the Democratic party.
- Maintaining open minds and doors to all residents regardless of party affiliation.
- Identifying and endorsing candidates for local boards and offices who will make decisions in Brookfield’s best interest.
If you’re a registered Democrat who would like to get involved in a meaningful way, please get in touch soon. Our caucus to elect membership for 2016-18 will be held in January (date to be determined), where a recommended slate will be presented. The caucus will be open to all Democrats.
We’re also looking for candidates to fill open spots on town Boards and Commissions. Brookfield’s success is based largely on the efforts of its residents who volunteer their time, energy, and knowledge to make the town work well. We know from the past election that we have many involved and caring people, so let us know if you’d like to be considered for one of the following appointed positions:
- Arts Commission
- Candlewood Lake Authority
- Commission on Aging
- Conservation Commission
- Economic Development Commission
- Historic District Commission
- Housing Authority
- Inland Wetlands Commission
- Lake Lillinonah Authority
- Library Board of Trustees
- Municipal Building Committee
- Parks & Recreation Commission
- Police Commission
- Water Pollution Control Authority
- Zoning Board of Appeals (alternate)
- Zoning Commission (alternate)
