Brookfield Drivers: DMV Reminds of August Extension Deadlines

The DMV will close early Friday and will be closed on Saturday. This is the last week to complete renewals given in August.

The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) reminds residents that the close of business on Tuesday, October 13 is the deadline to complete renewals of licenses, registrations or identification cards covered by extensions given in August for the department’s computer upgrade.

The DMV granted extensions beginning Aug. 11 and the period ends Oct. 13 after the Columbus Day holiday. Friday at 12:30 p.m. is the last day to complete those renewals. The DMV closes at 12:30 p.m. Friday for the holiday, is closed on Saturday and reopens Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7:45 a.m.

The DMV stated in a release, “If the agency is closed on the day of expiration for a license or registration, under state law (Conn. General Statutes 14-22 and 14-41) registrations and licenses remain valid through the next business day that the agency is open, which is Oct. 13, so the renewal can be transacted. The agency has informed law enforcement officials about the end date for extensions.”

To renew a license visit an AAA office - ct.gov/dmv/offices. Those doing a registration renewal can go online ct.gov/dmv/online using a computer, tablet or smartphone.
