Brookfield Firefighters Warn of Scam

A group or groups have been soliciting donations in the fire company's name.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company has taken to social media to warn residents of a phone scam.

A group or groups have been soliciting donations in the fire company's name, a Facebook post says. The BVFC never solicits over the phone or by email, they advise. They do go door-to-door in June -- a traditional fundraising activity delayed until September this year due to May macroburst. The firefighters also send out 3-4 mailings each year on Company letterhead.

The firefighters urge residents and business owners not to give out any personal or financial information over the phone.
