Brookfield First Responders Raise Funds For Police Officer

First responders in Brookfield have announced a fundraising event to help longtime police officer Gregory Waldmiller with medical costs

BROOKFIELD, CT — First responders in Brookfield have announced a fundraising event to help longtime police officer Gregory Waldmiller with medical costs and expenses related to his bladder cancer and leukemia treatment.

According to the GoFundMe page established by his daughter Michaela, Waldmiller, 68, has been with the Brookfield Police Department for 45 years. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer in October 2020, and unrelated acute myeloid leukemia earlier this year.

Michaela described her father as "the type of guy who goes out every snowstorm and helps snowblow all the driveways in the neighborhood."

The fundraiser will feature food and raffles, along with Tip-A-Cop and Touch-A-Trunk events, according to the flyer. It will be held Nov. 18 from 2-9 p.m. at Market Place Tavern, 189 Federal Road, Brookfield.

As of Friday afternoon, just about $18,000 of the $20,000 GoFundMe goal has been pledged.
