Brookfield First Selectman, State Rep Oppose New Affordable Housing Law

First Selectman Steve Dunn and state Rep. Stephen Harding will hold a press conference Friday.

Brookfield First Selectman Steve Dunn and state Rep. Stephen Harding Friday will hold a press conference to voice their opposition to a new Connecticut affordable housing law, 8-30g, which grants developers certain powers over municipal governments.

The law allows developers to circumvent local zoning regulations, if the developers include some affordable using units in their projects, reports the News-Times.

A controversial proposed development in Brookfield, which would feature more than 150 units, is currently citing the law in its attempts to gain approval, according to the News-Times.
