Brookfield First Selectman Thanks Voters, Gets Right to Work
Brookfield's newly appointed First Selectman highlighted plans in his first Brookfield Matters newsletter.

BROOKFIELD, CT-- Steve Dunn, the newly elected First Selectman of Brookfield, thanked voters and stated his first plan of action in his first Brookfield Matters newsletter. Dunn noted that the Town of Brookfield has a completed plan for the street scape project for the Town Center, as well as next year’s budget plans.
“I want to thank all of our residents for giving me the privilege of serving as your First Selectman. We have a great town with great people living here and it has been very heartening to see so many people who care deeply about our town coming out, attending meetings and giving our boards input. Our town will work best and meet the needs of the most people if we have the active involvement of all of our residents. I encourage you all to continue to come out and be heard.
At the same time, we have some urgent issues to address as a town in the next few months with the development of the Town Center being uppermost in the minds of residents. While over 500 housing units have already been approved and are in various stages of being built, we will work to ensure that the vision of the Town Center as laid out in our plan of development as a vibrant commercial destination for town residents is realized to the best of our ability. In doing this, we have a fully completed plan for the streetscape for the Town Center that we are now finalizing with the State DOT and will be having a presentation for the town on it shortly. We urge you to attend to see how the Town Center is being developed and what the town is looking to achieve. At the same time there are a number of new applications for new developments being submitted to the town and we ask that you attend the meetings of the boards so you can best understand what is being proposed.
It is also budget season once again and we have already started working on next year’s budget with the goal of ensuring that every dollar we propose to spend is needed on both the town and school sides of the budget.
In my first few days in office, I have met with most of our town employees and I am impressed with our team. We have a dedicated, hardworking group of employees working every day to meet the needs of our residents and I am very proud to work with them.”
The next regular Board of Selectmen Meeting will be held on January 4, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in Meeting Room 133 at Town Hall.
