Brookfield Gym to Host 5-Time Olympic Medalist

Brookfield-based Kratos Fitness & Acrobatics will host an Olympic medalist this November.

Nastia Liukin is a five-time Olympic medalist in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, including winning a gold medal in the Individual all-around, silver medals on the uneven bars, balance beam and as a part of Team USA and a bronze medal on the floor exercise.

Ashley Anton, owner of the gym, was excited to tell Patch: “Nastia Liukin saw how advanced one of our gymnasts is online and that is why she added us as a stop on her Shine Tour.”

The Shine Tour is a motivational meet and greet event created by Nastia Liukin and her Shine Agency. The agency allows girls of all ages and backgrounds to attend selected gyms around the country. Liukin will visit Kratos Fitness & Acrobatics on Nov. 1, 2015. Sign up at www.theshinetouratkratos.eventzilla.net.

Following Liukin’s speech, attendees will have the chance to ask questions, get an item of their choice autographed, and take a picture with Liukin. Dinner will be provided by official event sponsor, Subway for all in attendance.

“We were added as the current last stop on her tour and the only gym in Connecticut,” Anton said.

The gym is now offering competitive and recreational gymnastics for ages 2 - 12 and have added in new apparatus as they prepare to move into a larger facility in the beginning of 2016.

The new apparatus includes uneven bars, a competition balance beam and vaulting training mats.

The exact location of the new gym is yet to be released but they will be staying in Brookfield, Anton said. The new location will be approximately 5,000 sqare feet larger than their current location on Gray’s Bridge Road.
