New Candidate Joins Steve Dunn's Race for First Selectman

A new candidate has announced her intention of joining Steve Dunn's race for Brookfield's first selectman.

Sue Slater, Brookfield Democrat, has announced her candidacy to be Steve Dunn’s running mate for the office of selectman, according to the News Times. Together Dunn and Slater will seek the nomination of the Democtatic Party at the caucus on July 27.

Slater works in the insurance industry and volunteers for a number of charitable organizations.

Dunn, a longtime Brookfield resident, said in a statement that the main issues he will address if he’s elected are, “a lack of honesty, transparency and respect... issues like ignoring public input at town meetings and allowing petitions to be invalidated are not isolated incidents, but evidence of a leadership style that divides rather than unites. “

“Sue is an excellent candidate for selectman,” Dunn said in a statement. “She has a unique perspective as a full-time working mother who knows how to balance conflicting needs and schedules. Her background in insurance is a big plus.”
