BROOKFIELD, CT — A police K-9 officer played a key role in the apprehension of a shoplifting suspect last week.

After receiving the complaint from the Federal Road business, Brookfield police officers working a traffic control detail observed the suspect fleeing on foot. The police gave chase, but lost the man in nearby woods.

After establishing a perimeter, officers from the Patrol Division called in a specialist.

K-9 Officer Argo "arrived on scene within minutes and immediately began tracking this suspect," according to a police spokesperson.

The police dog led units directly to the suspect who was hiding in the woods, where he was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Police charged the man with sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer. He was released into the custody of another police department, which held active arrest warrants for him.
