Brookfield Librarian Key Player In Christmas Wallet Miracle

BROOKFIELD, CT — Lose your wallet on a New York City street and it would take a miracle to find it again, right?

Chalk this one up to Christmas, then.

Patty Walker, a freelance musician living in New York City, stumbled across a wallet on a Manhattan street corner on Tuesday. It was filled with credit cards, a Connecticut driver's license, a little cash ... and a library card.

"I tried the usual avenues of social media to locate its owner, but the individual seemed to have little social imprint. Running out of options, I optimistically dialed The Brookfield Library in CT."

Walker explained the situation to Andrea Grosner, circulation assistant at the library.

"Andrea made my day for a myriad of reasons," Walker posted on social media. "Within a few minutes, the owner returned my call. I redialed Andrea and thanked her again for her time; and shared my genuine respect for her work and the organization's vital work to its community."

Walker said she made contact with the wallet's owner in Manhattan a day later.

"He thanked me profusely and ended our conversation with, 'The wallet was sentimental. It means a lot.'"
