Brookfield Library: Our new exhibit at The Brookfield Library Art Gallery has begun! Area artist, Liz Monahan’s work is on display now through August 30. A reception for the artist is scheduled for Sunday, August 11, from 4:30 – 6:00 pm, in the library’s community room, with refreshments. This is an opportunity to meet the artist and hear from her directly about her technique, her artistic choices, and her overall artistic vision. This show highlights Ms. Monahan’s pastels and oils on canvas and her joyous celebration of beachscapes and animals. The show is entitled “The World Around Us”.

The Brookfield Library Art Gallery will be open for dedicated viewing of this exhibit on Thursdays and Saturdays from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon, in August and also whenever there is not a program in session. “Liz Monahan’s exhibit of pastels and oil on canvas paintings is full of emotion. Her peaceful beach and water scenes and realistic animal portraits really draw the viewer in. We are so pleased to be able to support the Arts by providing exhibit space. There is a great deal of local talent. ” said Library Director Yvonne Cech. Area artists are invited to submit samples of their work either in person at the library or on the library’s website at www.brookfieldlibrary.org. The Art Gallery Committee will review all submissions and will contact those selected and will schedule exhibits. Library patrons will be able to see each exhibit as they attend library programs in the community room. Check the library’s website for information on dedicated viewing Art Gallery viewing days and times.

This Art Gallery space has been made possible by the generous support of The Friends of the Brookfield Library. The mission of this nonprofit organization is to support the library through fundraising, including the annual July book sale, the Friends’ primary fundraising event.
