Brookfield Library Showcases Local Art Created During COVID-19

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Library Art Gallery is presenting How We Survived, an exhibition of local art created during the COVID-19 pandemic, on view the entire month of October. The show explores how people of all ages used art and creativity to navigate through the pandemic.

"During parts of 2020 and 2021, the members of our community were 'locked down' in their
homes to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. While for many this was an almost unbearable
hardship, for others it was an opportunity to explore new skills at home. This latter group
includes artists, adults reclaiming a childhood practice, and young children making their first
steps. This exhibition celebrates skills and new ideas expressed during this time," according to a library news release.

Area artists interested in being considered for future shows in the Brookfield Library Art Gallery are invited to submit samples of their work either in person at the Library or by emailing the Brookfield Library Art Gallery Committee at gallery@brookfieldlibrary.org. The Committee will review all submissions and will contact those selected to schedule exhibitions. Members of the public will be able to view exhibitions virtually and in-person in Brookfield Library’s community room.

The Brookfield Library Art Gallery is located in the Library's Community Room and is open during the Library’s regular operating hours. Visitors should check in at the circulation desk before entering the Gallery. A virtual version of the exhibition will be available on the Brookfield Library’s website, starting Oct. 1.
