Brookfield Lions Train to Save Lives
Brookfield Lions are re-certified in CPR and the use of an AED

Recently members of the Brookfield Lions became re-certified in CPR and in the use of an AED . The Lions, whose motto is “We Serve”, thought it would be good to renew their knowledge and practice as to what to do in case of a Cardiac emergency.
They were trained in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) which is a lifesaving technique useful in many emergencies, including heart attack or near drowning, in which someone’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped. When the heart stops, the lack of oxygenated blood can cause brain damage in only a few minutes. CPR can keep oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and other vital organs until more definitive medical treatment can restore a normal heart rhythm.
They were also trained in the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). An AED is a small portable electronic device that analyzes the heart’s rhythm and delivers a shock only if it is needed. About the size of a laptop computer, an AED is intuitive, safe and easy to use. It tells the user what to do with voice and visual prompts.
