Authors of the historical novel 'In the Crossfire Between Heaven and Hell' will host a multimedia presentation and book signing.
Brookfield History: On Monday evening August 19 at 7:30 PM the Brookfield Museum will host a multimedia presentation and book signing by co- authors Vic Butsch and Tom Coletti on their historical novel In the Crossfire
Between Heaven and Hell
The novel based on actual events tells the story of two main characters, Dorence Atwater, a Union Prisoner of War and Clara Barton and how each helps the other become distinguished in American History. Butsch and Coletti will share how Dorence, imprisoned at Andersonville, created a duplicate list of all Union Soldiers who died there which he hid. After the war he carried it home with the intention of publishing it so families and friends of the dead would know where and how their loved ones died. The death list became the object of controversy when the U.S. Army wanted it for their own purposes. Dorence was charged with treason and stealing his own list by a corrupt clique of Army Officers. He was tried and found guilty Clara Barton came to his aid as did newspaper mogul Horace Greely. The list was published to a grateful nation after which Dorence and Barton lives were filled with success.
