Brookfield Officers Deliver Bundle of Joy to First-Time Parents

Baby Natalie had no desire to wait for Brookfield EMS, so the officers had to take action.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Police officers are often called to step outside of their usual crime-fighting job description, but few take the step that two Brookfield officers did last month.

Brookfield Police Officers Eric Birdseye and Devin Quintard responded along side Brookfield EMS on Feb. 12 when a man called and told dispatchers that his wife was in labor, according to a Facebook post from the police department. The officers first began administering care to both mom and dad while awaiting EMS.

Baby Natalie didn't want to wait for the paramedics to arrive, and the officers delivered the baby at 4:34 a.m. When Brookfield EMS arrived, they transported mom and baby Natalie to the hospital.
