- Teen Book & Movie Club, 6:00 p.m. The Brookfield Library invites any teenager in grades 6-12 to join in a new monthly book club! A book will be picked each month and at a discussion, the book’s corresponding movie will be played. Popcorn, fun and lively discussions will ensue! Book/Movie for April: Perks Of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky rated PG-13. Registration encouraged! - Slavery by Another Name. The film will be shown at 6:30 p.m., discussion immediately following led by Dr. Christopher Kukk, Professor of Political Science at Western Connecticut State University, and a Fulbright Scholar. Slavery By Another Name, based on the Pulitzer-Prize-winning book by Douglas Blackmon. Brookfield, click here for details. - May 6, 13, 20, 27 - Singing and Signing Time with Ms. Janine at the Playground. Singer/Signer/Songwriter/Guitarist, Janine LaMendola “Ms. Janine” will be playing children’s music with sign language fun at Kids Kingdom. In case of bad weather please join inside the Town Hall. A sign will be posted as to what room. All ages welcome! Spring Session: Wednesday, 4:15 – 5:00 p.m. Dates: 5/6, 5/13, 5/20, 5/27 (4 wks)
- May 10 - MOTHER’S DAY 5K Presented by Dr. Philip Mascia, 9 a.m. BHS, 45 Longmeadow Hill Rd., REGISTRATION: $20 by mail by May 8, $25 race day. T-shirts to first 225 entrants.To register by mail, make checks payable to “Town of Brookfield” and mail to: Brookfield Parks and Recreation, “ATTN: Mother’s Day 5K”, P.O. - May 16 - Ellis Island & Statue of Liberty. Included is a 45-minute audio guide inviting visitors to relive the immigrant experience as if they were the new arrival. Visit Liberty Island to view the Statue of Liberty up close (includes entrance into pedestal) and explore the grounds. Leave Brookfield Town Hall at 7 a.m. and travel by coach bus to catch a ferry to both islands. Arrive back in Brookfield approximately 6 p.m. Day: Saturday Date: 5/16 Time: 7:00 a.m. departure Fee: $73.00 each adult, $64.00 each child age 6-12
- May 16- May 31 - Museum Exhibit Honors Fallen Brookfield Military Heros. Every Saturday from noon - 4 p.m. with extended hours on Sunday, May 25 (Brookfield’s Memorial Day Celebration). Historical Society’s Museum, 165 Whisconier Road (at the junction of CT Routes 25 and 133).
- May 19 - 3rd Annual “Speed Sitting” helps parents find a babysitter for their child(ren) in just one hour. Each hour 12 parents and 12 prospective babysitters interview and at the end of an hour you will leave with the contact information for all 12 babysitters. Currently accepting reservations for a 6 p.m. start time (finishing at 7 p.m.) as well as a 7:15 p.m. start time (finishing at 8:15 p.m.). Interested parents and babysitters should contact Parks & Rec. at 775-7310 to pre-register. Day: Tuesday Time: 6:00 – 8:15 p.m. Date: 5/19 Fee: Free Place: TBA
- May 24 – Museum’s Annual Strawberry Festival. Sunday from noon through 3 p.m. Historical Society’s Museum grounds, 165 Whisconier Road (at the junction of CT Routes 25 and 133).The parade ends near the museum parking lot where strawberry shortcake and soft drinks will be sold to support future public programs of the Society. Billy Michaels’ Jazz for Juniors band, provided by Hegarty Realty, will be on hand in the park behind the Historical Society building to entertain and a display of antique and vintage automobiles will also featured in the parking lot.
- May 24 - 2 - 4 p.m. Memorial Day Parade, parade leaves at 2 p.m. from the Brookfield High School parking lot and heads up Whisconier Road past the Brookfield Library and end just past the Brookfield Historical Society and Museum where you will be able to enjoy Strawberry Shortcake and refreshments.

- Congregational Church Easter Sunrise Service, Brookfield Sunrise Service, 5:45 a.m. at Happy Landings Open Space (on Rt 25). Parking and carpools will available at Valley Presbyterian Church on West Whisconier Road. In case of inclement weather service will take place in the Congregational Church of Brookfield Meetinghouse, 160 Whisconier Rd.
- Congregational Church Easter Communion Worship – 8:30 a.m in the Meetinghouse. Special bell music, communion, a special program for children, childcare available.
- Congregational Church, Easter Worship – 10:30 a.m. in the Meetinghouse. Special music from children, youth and adult choirs, special program for children, child care available.
