Brookfield PD Responds to Overturned Fuel Truck
The driver was found trapped beneath the truck.
BROOKFIELD, CT — An oil truck overturned on Tommys Lane on Friday, trapping its driver beneath it.
Police responded to a call at approximately 9:17 a.m. and found an oil delivery truck on its side, according to a release. The driver, Aderito P. Dias, 30, of Seymour was trapped beneath the truck, his leg pinned. He was conscious and alert, according to the police report.
Police attempted to relieve some of the pressure from the driver's leg using shovels and a pry bar while they awaited the arrival of the fire department.

The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department was later able to free the man, who drives for N.E. Mitchell Co. of Danbury, using hydraulic rescue equipment. Dias was taken to Danbury Hospital.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection also responded to investigate and assess the integrity of the tank before it was righed and removed. A small amount of fuel from a gas tank leak was found, but there was no breach of the truck's cargo tank and none of its oil was found to have leaked.
