Brookfield Police, Fire Crews Rescue Elderly Woman In House Fire

The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, EMS and the Brookfield police were dispatched to Rabbit Lane shortly after 7:30 Friday morning.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Police and fire crews came to the aid of an elderly woman after a fire broke out in her kitchen.

The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, EMS and the Brookfield police were dispatched to Rabbit Lane shortly after 7:30 Friday morning following a report of a structure fire.

First responders found smoke showing from the front door. A police officer entered the residence and assisted the lone elderly occupant to safety where she was evaluated by EMS.

The fire was located in the kitchen and was quickly extinguished, according to fire officials. The home was then ventilated and the area overhauled.

The woman did not want to be taken to the hospital.
