BROOKFIELD, CT — First responders are mourning the sudden passing of a veteran dispatcher.

Stephanie Kulowiec was a 29-year veteran of Brookfield’s Emergency Services. The Brookfield Police Department announced her death Tuesday on social media.

In their tribute, police remembered Kulowiec for her "obsession with tie-dye" and community spirit. She was a regular participant in community events "such as the Polar Plunge, Toy Drive, and St. Baldrick’s where she actually shaved her head to donate her hair and raise awareness for childhood cancer."
