Brookfield Releases Upcoming Events and News For December

The Town Hall will have special holiday hours starting December 22.

From The Town Of Brookfield: Brookfield could not be more proud of the BHS Girls Varsity Swim and Dive Team for winning the Class M State Championship title for 2016. The BHS Boys Varsity Soccer won three major awards as they placed #1 in the Patriot Division of the Southwest Conference. In post season, they advanced to win the SWC Championship, and ultimately won the Class M State Championship for 2016! Congrats to both teams for winning these hard earned titles! Go Bobcats!

USE OF ROUNDUP ON TOWN PROPERTIES
Some residents have expressed concern over the use of Roundup by the town on town properties and roadsides. Our Director of Public Health, Dr. Raymond Sullivan, has reviewed this and determined that this use poses no threat to the health of the community and its residents. Please see the letter below that he wrote to the Board of Selectman for full details.

Due to low membership, Brookfield's VFW Post 10201 may lose its charter and be closed down after 40 years of serving the veterans and community of Brookfield. It is the only veteran's organization in Brookfield and it would be a great loss if we could not continue to promote programs to benefit our Brookfield Veterans. For further information, please see the attached Press Release.

BROOKFIELD'S ENERGY COMMITTEE SEEKS MEMBERS
Brookfield's Energy Committee has been an integral part of our town in helping both the town and residents save money on utility bills. Over the next few years we anticipate that we will be upgrading all of our energy systems which involves changing the way we manage our infrastructure in both the town and the schools. We are looking for people to help the town do this by joining our Energy Committee. As a member, you would be helping the town decide, for example, on which buildings to retrofit, what equipment needs to be upgraded and if we should implement solar projects. Please volunteer for this very important team by either contacting us directly at the First Selectman's office or by going to your respective political party who can forward your name to the Board of Selectman.
