Brookfield Resident to be Honored as One of United Way's 'Hometown Heroes'
Susan Ludwig, volunteer coordinator of Brookfield's food pantry, will receive a Hometown Heroes award.

The United Way of Western Connecticut is hosting their third Annual Hometown Heroes benefit dinner on Feb. 27 to honor local community heroes who work to make their communities better through philanthropy and volunteerism.
Susan Ludwig, volunteer coordinator of Brookfield’s food pantry, will receive a Hometown Heroes award.
Local businesses and community members from Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield Counties “who distinguish themselves through philanthropy and volunteerism” will be honored, according to their website.
Award recipients include:
- Corporate Philanthropy Award: Kimberly-Clark Corporation for exemplifying corporate social responsibility and demonstrating a strong commitment to giving back to the community
- Corporate Volunteer Award: Savings Bank of Danbury in honor of their leadership in promoting volunteerism as a part of their corporate culture
- Small Business Hero Award: Ralph McIntosh, Del-Tron Precision, Inc. in recognition of his leadership, commitment and generosity to the greater Danbury community
Hometown Hero Awards:
- Bethel: Brotherhood In Action
- Bridgewater: Frank Kelly
- Brookfield: Susan Ludwig
- Danbury: Jackie Morrison
- Kent: Bill and Catherine Bachrach
- New Fairfield: John and Amy Pendergast
- New Milford: Helen Barksdale
- Newtown: Peter D’Amico
- Ridgefield: Allison Stockel
The event will include dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions. Proceeds will benefit UWWC’s work in support of ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families throughout Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield Counties.
