Brookfield Residential Yard Refuse Center​ Opens Apr. 15

​The Brookfield residential Yard Refuse Center​ will be open Saturdays from Apr. 15, 2023 through Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield residential Yard Refuse Center will be open Saturdays from Apr. 15, 2023 through Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The center is located on Pocono Road between the Town Hall and the Fire House.

The center will be closed on the following Saturdays: May 27, July 1, Sept. 2, and Nov. 25

Permits for the center must be obtained, but there is no fee. Permits are available at the Public Works office in the Town Hall, 100 Pocono Road, from 8:30 a.m. — 4:00 p.m. weekdays or directly at the Yard Refuse Center when the site is open on Saturdays.

Only residents of Brookfield may use the Yard Refuse Center; contractors are not permitted.

The center can only accept twigs, small branches up to 3 inches in diameter, brush and leaves. Grass clippings are not allowed.

Leaves may be deposited within the 100-foot by 50-foot dedicated area. Twigs, small branches and brush may be deposited within the 100-foot by 80-foot area set aside for them. Free wood chips are available at the site. Residents are responsible for loading the wood chips into their vehicles.

The Yard Refuse Center will be open to accept Christmas trees on Jan. 6, and Jan. 13, 2024.
