Brookfield Residents To Discuss Proposed $77.7M Budget On Tuesday
On the agenda of Brookfield's Annual Town Meeting will be the proposed $77.7 million budget for 2022-23.
BROOKFIELD, CT — Brookfield will hold its Annual Town Meeting at the Brookfield High School auditorium on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Residents will discuss the 2022-23 town and school operating budget, as well as capital projects, as approved by the Board of Finance.
The proposed $77.7 million spending plan would be a 3.87 percent increase over the current fiscal year's budget. $20.7 million would be used for town operations, a 3.75 percent increase. The $48.7 million Board of Education budget represents a 4.14 percent increase over the 2021-22 budget, and debt service would increase 7.51 percent, to $6.3 million. Town officials are proposing a 9.44 percent reduction in capital expenditures to the tune of $2.1 million.

During the meeting Tuesday, a vote will be taken for a referendum date of May 17.
