Brookfield Residents To Vote On $77.7M Budget Tuesday
Polls will be open between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. for the Brookfield budget referendum Tuesday.
BROOKFIELD, CT — In a referendum Tuesday, Brookfield residents will vote on the town and Board of Education budgets covering fiscal year 2022-23.
The $48.7 million spending plan for the BOE represents a 4.14 percent increase over the current budget. The requested increase is driven mainly by enrollment and new salaries, including a required bilingual teacher at $90,600.
The town is proposing a municipal spending plan of $20.7 million, plus another $6.3 million in debt service and $2.1 million in capital expenditures.

The combined $77.7 million budget, a 3.87 percent increase over the current spending plan, would increase Brookfield's mill rate by 3.15 percent.

Voters may determine their local polling location on the Secretary of State's website here. Polls will be open between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Due to construction at Huckleberry Hill Elementary School, District 1 voters will cast their vote at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church Parish Hall, 138 Candlewood Lake Road.
