Brookfield Residents To Vote On $82.4M Budget Referendum Tuesday

In a referendum Tuesday, Brookfield residents will vote on the town and Board of Education budgets covering fiscal year 2023-24.

BROOKFIELD, CT — In a referendum Tuesday, Brookfield residents will vote on the town and Board of Education budgets covering fiscal year 2023-24.

The $50,510,562 spending plan for the schools represents a 3.79 percent, or $1,844,414 increase over the current budget.

The town is proposing a municipal spending plan of $21,938,307, a 6 percent increase over the current plan. Another $7,703,957 in debt service and $2,287,218 in capital expenditures have also been approved by the Board of Finance.

The combined $82,440,044 budget, a 6.04 percent increase over the current spending plan, would increase Brookfield's mill rate by 3.98 percent.

District 1 voters may vote at the St. Marguerite Bourgeois Parish Hall, 138 Candlewood Lake Road. District 2 and District 3 voters can cast their votes at Brookfield High School, 45 Long Meadow Hill Road.

Polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
