Brookfield Residents To Vote On School Security Plan Monday

A Special Town Meeting to vote on funding the Board of Education's recommended School Security Plan​ will be held Monday, Aug. 22.

BROOKFIELD, CT — A Special Town Meeting to vote on funding the Board of Education's recommended School Security Plan will be held Monday, Aug. 22, 2022 at 7:00 p.m., at the Brookfield High School Auditorium.

Attendees will be asked to vote on two resolutions, both to be paid for from the funds provided to the town by the American Rescue Plan Act.

The first has a $251,515 price tag, and would allow the Brookfield Police Department to hire two school resource officers.

The second would cost $344,718, and facilitate the police hiring one armed school security officer for after school hours at Brookfield High School. The money would also enable the Brookfield Public Schools to hire five additional unarmed security personnel for monitoring cameras, check-in at the front doors and patrolling the campus at each school.
