Brookfield Residents Vote Tuesday On $87.4M Budget

The proposed $34.5 million municipal budget and $52.9 million school spending plans will be on the ballot Tuesday in Brookfield.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Voters will pass judgement Tuesday on the Brookfield municipal and school budgets proposed for the fiscal year commencing July 1.

Residents will vote on the Board of Education's 2024-25 spending plan that would allocate $52.9 million for the schools, and the proposed $34.5 million municipal budget.

The referendum will also give voters the chance to weigh in on whether each spending plan is "too low," "too high," or "adequate."

If approved, the combined $87.4 million budget would be a $5.09 million — or 6.19 percent — increase over the current $82.3 million spending plan, with a 3.87 percent increase in the tax rate.

Voters will also vote on appropriating $3.3 million to fund the costs of the 2024-2025 Capital Improvements Projects by the issuance of bonds or notes.

Polls will be open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. District 1 voters will cast their ballots at the St. Marguerite Church Hall, 138 Candlewood Lake Road, and District 2 and District 3 voters will vote at Brookfield High School, 45 Long Meadow Hill Road.
