BROOKFIELD, CT — Brookfield has been awarded a state transportation grant to extend the Still River Greenway Trail and upgrade a nearby parking area as part of the town's long-term Town Hall campus improvements.
The town received funding through the Connecticut Department of Transportation's Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program, administered through the Western Connecticut Council of Governments.

Town officials said engineering design for the project is currently about 30 percent complete, and Brookfield plans to work with the state Department of Transportation to accelerate approvals so construction can begin sooner than the typical design timeline of more than two years.
The project represents Phase 2 of the town’s Town Hall Master Plan.
Phase 1, which added pickleball courts to the campus, was completed about two years ago.
Future improvements planned as part of Phase 3 include additional baseball field amenities, upgrades to the seating area near the bandstand and additional Still River Greenway Trail loops around the campus.
Town officials said the project is being funded through a phased approach that allows Brookfield to complete improvements over time while aligning with the town’s 10-year capital plan and Plan of Conservation and Development.
