Brookfield VFW Honors Danbury News Times

At a ceremony held at the offices of the Danbury News Times, Commander Joseph C. Beal of the Jason D. Lewis Brookfield Memorial VFW Post, presented a Citation Award to the Danbury News Times for their consistent efforts through which the newspaper has promoted the Citizenship Education of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Newspaper was Staff Reporter Julia Perkins. Miss Perkins was also honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding reporting on veteran related happenings in particular her feature story in 2019 on the renaming of the Brookfield VFW Post to honor the memory of Jason D. Lewis, a former Navy Seal and Brookfield town resident, who was mortally wounded in a heroic attempt to provide additional security to his Seal team during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
