Brookfield Voters Approve $87.4M Budget

The total operating budget is a $5.09 million — or 6.19 percent — increase over the current $82.3 million spending plan

BROOKFIELD, CT — Voters passed an $87.4 million operating budget for Brookfield's 2024-25 fiscal year at Tuesday’s referendum.

The $34.5 million municipal piece passed easily, 1,198-762. The approval of the $52.9 million school budget was more of a squeaker, 1,066-903, according to unofficial results from the Registrar's Office.

The combined budget is a $5.09 million — or 6.19 percent — increase over the current $82.3 million spending plan, with a 3.87 percent increase in the tax rate.

By a margin of 1,246-689, voters also approved appropriating $3.3 million to fund the costs of the 2024-2025 Capital Improvements Projects by the issuance of bonds or notes, according to the unofficial tabulation.
