Brookfield Water Main Break Adds to Woes

Both Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company and Candlewood Company got the call.

BROOKFIELD, CT --When it rains, it pours.

The water metaphor was regrettably apt for the situation in Brookfield on Memorial Day. Both Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company and Candlewood Company responded to calls about a water main break in the Candlewood Shores section of Brookfield at around 11:20 a.m. Monday.

Candlewood Company took to social media to explain that "Firefighters were sent out to find and to shut off the water mains in the affected area. We were able to shut off the mains to stop the water leak and to allow repairs to be made."

Brookfield was arguably the town hardest hit by the storms, tornadoes and macroburst that swept through the area on May 15, leaving some homes without power for up to a week afterward.
