Brookfield Weather Alert: Air Quality Alert Issued for Saturday and Sunday

The air quality index this weekend is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups, including those with asthma or bronchitis.

The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has air quality alert for Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, 2015.

Air pollution levels are predicted to be “unhealthy for sensitive groups.” According to Enviroflash, an air quality group sponsored by the EPA, unhealthy ground-level ozone concentrations could cause breathing difficulty, coughing or throat irritation.

The air quality index is 100 for Saturday which is a yellow alert. On Sunday the air quality index is 111, which is an orange alert and considered unhealthy for sensitive groups. Enviroflash said of the alert, “Active children and adults, and people with lung disease, such as asthma, should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors.”
