Brookfield Woman, 75, Charged in Fatal Whisconier Road Crash

She has been charged with negligent homicide for her part in the Oct. 19 collision that killed a Danbury man.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The local motorist who struck and killed a Danbury man last October told police she did not see either the pedestrian or the construction trailer he was off-loading, the News-Times is reporting.

Linda Pendergast, 75, of Brookfield was traveling south on Route 25 in the area of Fairview Road when she moved into the northbound lane to avoid the trailer. When she did, she struck Harold Trafton, 58, who had been assisting with the off-load. Trafton was transported to Danbury Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Pendergast is scheduled to appear June 25 in state Superior Court in Danbury. She has been charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failure to exercise due care to avoid colliding with a pedestrian, for her part in the Oct. 19 crash on Whisconier Road.
